Databases
Most businesses have many databases of one kind or another. Trouble is,
they are often entirely disconnected. Sales has a list of hot leads in a
spreadsheet, Accounting has a list of customers in their accounting
package, the boss has some business cards in his brief case, the workshop
have a blackboard, and so on.
Its almost a certainty that none of it, except possibly the accounting
data is backed up. It is also almost a certainty that one person`s data
is not readily available to another even if such would significantly
improve productivity.
